Katherine Stone is a nationally recognized, award-winning advocate for women who suffer mental illnesses related to pregnancy & childbirth, such as postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety and depression during pregnancy. She is the founder of PostpartumProgress.com, the world's most widely-read website on maternal mental health. She was the founder & CEO of Postpartum Progress Inc. (http://postpartumprogress.org), a national 501c3 non-profit working to vastly improve awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression, and to provide peer leadership and support for the women who have them. Postpartum Progress was the leading awareness raising, patient advocacy organization for maternal mental health, with unmatched consumer engagement.
Katherine has received numerous awards for her social media influence and maternal mental health advocacy work. She was chosen as a WebMD Health Hero in 2008, a program that recognizes individuals who have overcome challenges and helped transform healthcare. In 2012, she was named one of the fiercest women in America as part of More magazine’s annual Fierce List, which hailed her for de-stigmatizing PPD, “…by sharing her experience in bravely naked detail.” She won the Iris Award in 2014 and 2016, and was named among the top 20 Social Media Moms by Working Mother magazine in 2016. And in 2017 she was awarded the Becky Hatfield Family Support Award by the National Perinatal Association.
